The Solo Stove Pi is the good-looking one at the party โ€” a round, polished stainless oven from the folks who make those smokeless fire pits. It burns wood or gas (with the right burner) and bakes a proper 12-inch pizza in about 90 seconds.

What I love is the big, wide mouth. Launching and turning pizzas feels natural, even for beginners โ€” there's room to work. The demi-dome shape bounces heat down onto the top of the pizza, so the cheese bubbles just right.

On wood, the airflow design gives you a clean, roaring fire without a face full of smoke. On gas, it's calm and simple. Either way, it looks fantastic sitting on the patio between pizza nights.

The honest weakness: it's a premium price, and to switch between wood and gas you buy the burner you want โ€” the fuel flexibility isn't free. It's also happiest as a patio centerpiece rather than a haul-to-the-park oven.

Dad's Verdict

The best-looking oven that also cooks like a champ. If your patio is part of the fun and you want something you'll show off, the Pi is easy to recommend.

Dad's FAQ

Is the Solo Stove Pi wood or gas?

Both are possible โ€” you fit the wood burner or the gas burner depending on how you want to cook. Many owners keep the gas burner on for easy weeknights.

Is the Pi good for beginners?

Very. The wide opening gives you room to slide and turn pizzas without panic, which is exactly what a first-timer needs.

How big a pizza does it make?

Up to about 12 inches โ€” a great personal-to-medium size. Cook one, eat one, cook the next; that's the rhythm.
